Huge thanks to Dr. Pond at Sports Medicine Northwest! If anyone in the Seattle area is looking for a Chiropractor/Athlete Guru you NEED to check Skylar out! He's always putting me back together, back, hip, bicep, whatever it is he fixes it and keeps me in the game. I can't thank him enough for what he does! almost 10 weeks ago I pulled my pec really bad doing a ring dip, couldn't do much of anything with my left side for a while (close to 2 months) but thanks to Sky I'm back to not only being able to doing ring dips again but muscle ups too no pain!!! A couple of weeks after hurting my pec I took a pretty nasty spill on the ice which messed up my back and my hip pretty bad (yes I know, I was quite the mess) wasn't able to do much, but with the help of Sky I'm back to "normal" this week and feeling strongest ever! Thank you!

As a professional fighter and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competitor, I find myself "broken" a lot!!! I see Dr. Pond and the Sports Medicine Northwest staff multiple times a week to stay healthy and keep my body moving and functioning properly.
I have to have confidence when I compete; confidence that my old injuries will not be a problem and that my body will be taken care of as fast as possible if I acquire any new injuries. I know that when I have an injury or if I just need a basic adjustment, the staff at Sports Medicine Northwest will get me back to competition shape fast!
I contribute much of my success as an athlete to the care I receive at Sports Medicine Northwest!

I'm so thankful for Sports Medicine Northwest! Although Skylar specializes in chiropractic care, he offers so many services. He's more of a rehab specialist, which I really appreciate. He takes each patient's specific needs into consideration to develop a complete rehab program that not only relieves any immediate pain, but also fixes the cause of the initial pain. I went in to see Skylar complaining of foot pain, and he determined the cause of the pain was connected to tightness within my calves, hamstrings, and low back. With the help of his handy graston techniques and tools, his stretching methods, taping skills, and rehab homework, I was back on my feet in a matter of weeks. My foot immediately felt better after the first session, and after a few more sessions my entire body functioned better than it has in the last 10 years. The sense of body awareness I have gained through the work he's done has made a big difference in my athletic performance, and I appreciate all that I've learned from Skylar.
As a strength and conditioning coach and competitive runner, I will always refer my clients and fellow competitors to Skylar. Go Sports Medicine Northwest!

Sports Medicine Northwest is simply amazing. I went in, after a great recommendation from my Crossfit gym, for a huge muscle spasm in my lower back. I was hesitant to go at first, because although this spasm only happened once before, I have a 10+ year spinal disc injury (I'm only 24 so it's basically been a life long injury) from a car accident in the same location the muscles were locking up. I also work as a Karate and Muay Thai instructor, so it is very important that my body is happy and healthy. When I arrived my lower back was so locked up that my hips and spine were being pulled to the right (basically I looked crooked and warped). I couldn't walk, sit, stand, and really do anything without pain, but after just 3 times going to Sports Medicine Northwest I could move functionally with very minimal pain and I had a treatment plan to continue to heal and strengthen both my muscles and work towards healing my life long spinal injury.
I had been to my family doctor (who just wrote prescriptions for pharmaceuticals), physical therapy (which just strengthened the muscles with no attention to the spine), a spinal and sports medicine specialist (who was very knowledgeable about the injury, but mainly recommended not to do anything that hurts... like I couldn't figure that out), message (feels nice, doesn't fix it), the list goes on.... Until I tried Sports Medicine Northwest.
Not only did they treat and heal the main reason I came in, Skylar and Alicia dug even deeper, addressing the spinal injury, as well as other health concerns I had been dealing with. Skylar worked to relax, stretch and release the muscle spasm, and then focused on the disc injury, releasing pressure and allowing the spine to decompress. He also discussed a future treatment plan to continue my progress in a safe healthy manner that will allow me to continue to do the things I enjoy including teaching martial arts, doing CrossFit, riding dirtbikes... all things the other people I've seen have said I couldn't do. Alicia performed the acupuncture (first time for me) which was supposed to be just for the muscle spasm. However, she talked to me and asked about any other health concerns I had, and talked to me not only about how the acupuncture could help but other things I could do that were natural and holistic to address a laundry list of health concerns I have. All this is a refreshing change from the approaches I am used to being prescribed. Sports Medicine Northwest truly cares about their patients and takes the time to learn about them so they can help them create a treatment plan that works for them and their lifestyle.
They actually live up to their name; they are excellent.

Last December while deadlifting, I tweaked out my hip so badly I couldn't walk for days. Hip/knee injuries have always been an issue, and it never occurred to me I could do anything about it. I would go to the chiropractor to fix it and then tweak it again.. This meant I needed a chiro to fix me... Enter Doc Pond!
For two months, I had twice-a-week adjustments and short lifting sessions. This allowed Doc Pond to fix what I broke, but also see what was wrong in my form that I was always out of alignment. I went to a chiropractor for 10 years while doing gymnastics, but having a doctor that not only understands the body but also the details of the sport is priceless! (It also helped that he talked to my coach so I would get corrections during the workouts!)
Monday was my first time heavy deadlifting since Decemeber, and I was nervous. But focusing on the form adjustments and using the band, I was able to hit a new PR! No tweaky hip 🙂
Thanks to Doc Pond, Z, and Roo!
