Class IV Laser Therapy

What is Cold Laser Therapy?

Laser therapy is used in sports medicine to accelerate tissue healing and speed the injury recovery process.  This is achieved by a process referred to in the literature as photobiomodulation.

When the cells of your body are exposed to specific wavelengths of light, the cells change in ways that are beneficial to wound healing and tissue regeneration.  Those changes are referred to in the literature as Photobiomodulation.   Certain wavelengths of light when delivered into the tissues, are able to stimulate the mitochondria to multiply your body's energy production in that local area.  In a sense, the targeted tissues behave like a plant.  Generating ATP energy in volumes as high as 400% greater volume than in their resting state.

Bone healing:

A 2019 Systematic Review described accelerated bone repair in 33 out of 37 studies.

Improved wound healing time:

Combined Symbiotic Benefits with stem cell therapy

Amplified local growth factor relief

Increased Growth Factor release in isolated Prp!  This is big as we perform PrP injections here at SMNW and because of this study and others like it, we always couple Low Level Laser Therapy with our PRP treatments.

Treatment of Alzheimer's

Nerve Healing:

In a published 2020 study laser therapy improved healing time and muscle response to crush injuries of the sciatic nerve

Here at Sports Medicine Northwest we treat our patients with the most powerful Class IV cold laser on the planet.  The KLaser Cube 4 Plus is the gold standard in laser therapy.  All of the above benefits are only relevant with sufficient power to reach the depths of injured muscles, tendons, ligaments and joints.  With 20 joules of power, the Italian hand-made Cube 4 Plus is second to none.  It is our task to produce a fast and effective healing response for our patients.  The KLaser is among our most powerful tools.

Cold laser therapy is used in sports medicine to accelerate tissue healing for multiple common sports injury presentations including:

  • Muscle Sprains
    • Rotator Cuff injuries
    • Hamstring Strains
  • Ligament Strains
    • Rolled Ankle
    • Elbow Pain
  • Bone Bruises
    • These are often the long lasting source of pain in knee injuries
  • Osteo arthritis
    • Hip, Shoulder and knee
